Photo year estimation
Updated October 8, 2026
Glow estimates the year a photo was taken from the faces' ages, clothes, objects and nearby album pages, and your family confirms or fixes it.
Most old prints have no date on the back. Photo year estimation gives Glow a way to make a first guess, so an undated photo can still take its place in the story.
How it works
- Add an undated photo. Scan a print or upload a photo that has no year on it.
- Glow suggests a year. It estimates the year from the ages of the faces, the clothes, the objects and the album pages nearby.
- The family decides. Someone confirms the year or fixes it, and Glow learns from the answer.
What Glow reads
Glow estimates the year a photo was taken from the ages of the faces in it, the clothes, the objects and the album pages nearby. It is a suggestion, not a verdict.
Your family has the last word
A suggested year is confirmed or fixed by the family, and Glow learns from every answer. Dated photos then fall into the year-by-year timeline, undated prints included.
